Update from Blackpool Football Club: Blackpool FC Community Trust Generates £31.25m In Social Value During 2024/25 – 23 June 2026

Blackpool FC Community Trust (BFCCT) generated £31,259,939 in social value during the 2024/25 season.

The figures, published as part of the English Football League’s (EFL) annual social impact reporting, demonstrate the significant contribution made by BFCCT’s education, health, wellbeing and community programmes across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.

The football club’s charity generated almost £13 in social value for every £1 invested in the community from grants, funding bids and donations.

Social value figures are estimates calculated using recognised methods that measure how our programmes can improve outcomes such as mental wellbeing, education, and employability, while reducing costs that might otherwise fall on public services. The calculations also place a value on activities including volunteering, use of facilities, and support provided by players and staff, using national benchmarks and established research to ensure the figures are fair, consistent and evidence-based.

During the 2024/25 season, BFCCT:

  • Engaged with more than 28,000 people across almost 18,000 sessions
  • Provided more than 7,000 free healthy lunches to children through Holiday Activity and Food Camps
  • 100% of BFCCT’s Sports College students passed their BTEC, with 20% exceeding their target grades
  • Worked in partnership with The BIG Food Truck to distribute more than 14 tonnes of affordable food parcels
  • Provided facilities for 34 local grassroots football teams to access winter training opportunities

The EFL’s report showed that the Trust’s social value was created across several key areas. More than £1.5 million was linked to improvements in physical and mental health, while £4 million came from education, training and employment support. A further £9 million was generated through community-based activities, with improvements in wellbeing accounting for more than £15 million.

These figures highlight the positive impact BFCCT continues to make across the local community.

The EFL network as a whole generated more than £1.4 billion in social value during the 2024/25 season, demonstrating the important role football clubs and their charitable organisations play in supporting communities across the country.

Matt Hilton, Interim CEO at BFCCT, said: “This achievement reflects the dedication, passion and hard work of our staff, volunteers, trustees and partners, who work every day to make a positive difference across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.

“Whilst we are proud of the figure itself, it is the people and stories behind it that matter most. Every participant engaged, every life improved and every opportunity created demonstrates the impact that can be achieved when communities, partners and organisations come together with a shared purpose. This recognition is shared by everyone who plays a part in our work and reflects our collective commitment to improving lives and creating opportunities for people across Blackpool.”
