Update from Blackpool Football Club: Stadium Developments – 3 July 2026

3 July 2026: Ahead of the 2026/27 season, a number of infrastructure works continue to take place around Bloomfield Road – building on the improvements made last summer.

New state-of-the-art LED floodlights, supplied and installed by Musco Lighting, are being installed in readiness for the new season.

Musco Lighting is used by top level English stadia such as Wembley, Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium, firmly establishing the supplier at the top of its field.

The East Stand upgrades continue with a new roof and purlins being installed by GL Stadia. The old floodlight columns will be removed with the new LED floodlights being installed across the front edge of the East and West stands.

Bloomfield Road will also have a Nexo sound system installed ahead of the new season. These systems are used in other stadia such as the Principality Stadium, Croke Park and the Stade De France.

The new PA system will improve the match day experience for fans with uniform coverage of every seat necessary for effective public address and voice alarm functions.

Painting of the underside roof beams of the North and West Stand in tangerine has been completed, matching the South Stand. In the coming weeks, the stanchions on the roof of the stadium will be painted tangerine to make our home even more identifiable over the Blackpool skyline.

Glynn Makin, Project Manager, on the ongoing developments at Bloomfield Road: “Staff at the Club and our valuable contractors are working around the clock to make sure Bloomfield Road is looking better than ever ahead of its 125th year of being our permanent home.

“The off season has seen major projects start to take shape from the East Stand roofing refurbishments to the installation of our new PA system, which will be a welcome improvement to our supporters.

“Last year’s developments were a tremendous success, and we believe the continued investment and hard work taking place this summer will once again make a lasting impact on the stadium . Our aim is to take Bloomfield Road to the next level, building on a home we are already incredibly proud of and continuing to enhance the matchday experience for every supporter.”
