Supporting animal welfare around the world

Animal welfare is an important cause for Simon, his wife Gillian and their children, reflecting a shared belief in giving care and protection to those who need it most. Their support focuses on organisations working to prevent cruelty, improve standards of care and deliver lasting change for animals that are vulnerable or mistreated.
For many years, Simon has supported Animals Asia Foundation, an international charity dedicated to ending cruelty to animals and improving animal welfare across Asia. Founded in Hong Kong, the organisation is best known for its work to end the bear bile industry, rescuing moon bears from a lifetime of confinement and rehabilitating them at sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.
Animals Asia also works closely with governments and authorities to secure long‑term change, combining rescue operations with advocacy, education and policy engagement. Beyond bear protection, the Foundation campaigns to combat the dog and cat meat trade, improve the welfare of captive animals, and raise standards of care across zoos, safari parks and other facilities through training and collaboration.
While living in Hong Kong, Simon and his family were also personally involved in animal rescue. During this time, they rescued twelve dogs through Hong Kong Dog Rescue and Lifelong Animal Protection (LAP) – two charities dedicated to rehoming abandoned and mistreated animals and promoting responsible pet ownership across the city.
